Just what is a plugin anyway?
It’s a small program or piece of code that gets added onto your WordPress website to enhance its functionality.
For instance…
If you wanted to hide the title of your page or blog, you would have to create a special set of instructions or code to tell your website theme to hide the title of your page or post. Some website themes include this functionality in their themes but most don’t.
So…there’s a plugin for that! Watch this video as I explain it.
Another example is when you want to integrate your email service provider…like MailChimp or ConvertKit…into your website so that you can build opt-in forms into your pages, posts and in other areas of your website. It’s not always easy to do that unless you are a programmer. Plugins make that easy.
There are thousands upon thousands of plugins that will help you customize and enhance the functionality of your website however its always wise not to use too many. It might be better to spend the time or money to find a website theme that already has the bells and whistles you want and need for your website and business goals.
If you’re unsure what those needs and goals are, grab my free toolkit on how to plan+build your website so that its functional and profitable BEFORE you create it.
Let me know in the comments what kinds of plugins you’ve used…I’d love to see if they’ll work for me and my clients!
