One of the most important tasks of a business owner is keeping their WordPress website functioning well and providing relevant content to their visitors. I don’t have a lot of time (and I know your time is precious too!) to spend on daily website stuff. These 3 keys to healthy WordPress websites has kept me and my clients on top of the internet game.

Keep your WordPress website healthy with these three daily checks:

Check for updates

Those little red circles next to the items in your left menu are there for a reason. It means there has been an update to the associated software and with one click, you can update it and keep moving. Don’t ignore them!

Respond to any comments you’ve received on your blog posts. Your visitors took the time to leave you some feedback so make sure you approve their comment (if you moderate your comments), and be sure to leave them a response. They’ll be happy and Uncle Google will be happy because comments count as new content! 🙂

Scan for malware

I use a security plugin called Wordfence. The free version will give you the tools you need to keep your site healthy when you’re just starting out. It scans your website every day and will alert you via email when there are issues that need your attention.

The Wordfence plugin will also let you know when you need to make updates to your theme and plugins (see the first tip ⬆️. So its like a double-check for you!

Back up your website

Backup your website at least monthly…more often if you’re a blogger or someone that updates their content more often. I backup my site daily to my @dropbox account with a plugin called UpdraftPlus. I set it and forget it. Each day when the backup is finished, I get an email. Additionally, the plugin only keeps the last four backups performed so my Dropbox account doesn’t get cluttered.

Bonus: Check your Insights

I use a free plugin called Monster Insights. You can see where your traffic is coming from, what pages on your website is getting the most looks and lots of other info that will help you focus on the right marketing activities

I LOVE sharing new video trainings and free resources on my blog.
